Myers Undergoes Successful Hip Surgery

 

Phillies right-hander is likely done for remainder of season

The Phillies said right-hander Brett Myers had successful surgery on his right hip on Thursday.

Myers had arthroscopic bony spur and labral debridement. Orthopaedic surgeon and hip specialist Bryan Kelly performed the surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

The Phillies said Myers will begin a rehabilitation program on Saturday. He also is expected to begin a long-toss program in approximately three months. That would have him throwing in the beginning of September, which means the chance of him pitching again this season is remote.
