Archbishop of San Juan, Roberto O. Gonzalez, has Spine Surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery

New York—February 9, 2012 

Roberto O. Gonzalez, Archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico, has been admitted to Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City for spinal surgery.

The operation was successfully completed today at 2:30 p.m. ET. The surgical team was led by Dr. Frank P. Cammisa Jr., chief of the Spinal Surgery Service of the Spine Care Institute at Hospital for Special Surgery.

According to Dr. Cammisa, “Archbishop Gonzalez had successful spinal surgery this morning. He is doing well and we anticipate a full recovery and return to his normal activities.”
