The Division of Musculoskeletal and Interventional Pain Management

Pain is a complex physiological and emotional experience, which can dramatically affect an individual's life. Musculoskeletal pain, especially related to spinal disorders, can be particularly limiting and difficult for patients to cope with. Hospital for Special Surgery's Division of Musculoskeletal and Interventional Pain Management meets the needs of patients struggling with this and other chronic pain resulting from musculoskeletal injuries or disorders.

Directed by an anesthesiologist with subspecialty training in pain medicine, the Division of Musculoskeletal and Interventional Pain Management offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment to patients with acute and chronic pain syndromes, including pain from orthopedic and rheumatologic conditions. The division is skilled in treating pain related to conditions that include:

  • Spinal disorders
  • Nerve injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Peripheral neuropathies
  • Reflex sympathetic dystrophy

In addition, the Division addresses post-operative pain and pain associated with cancer, shingles, and other medical conditions.
